Linda Wong, porn star of the past…

05 Jul

Doing some historical research today for an article about 1950s men’s magazines, I came upon the information that Linda Wong, a porn star in the 70s and 80s, was born the same year I was, 1951. She was a few weeks older. Died in 1987 of a drug overdose. Her IMDb page has some interesting trivia: she worked as a staffer in the office of renown San Francisco attorney Melvin Belli, and she was a high school homecoming queen in 1969. Boy, I bet she looked great on a float, with a crown. If I had gone to her high school, I’m sure I would have drooled at her from afar, being rather intimidated by great beauty as I was in those days (and still am, though to a lesser extent)…

Hadn’t thought about her in a long time, but I remember I found her very, very sexy back in the days when I was first writing for porn mags. I know I have one of her classic films on VHS somewhere in a box…have to dig it out for a trip sometime down Porn Memory Lane…

She was the first big Asian-American star of X-rated films.

I think I like this picture better though…just a girl next door…

She'd be almost sixty now, just like me. Sheesh...

Oh yeah. In my reveries, I sometimes forget that I’m using this blog partly to promote my ebooks. So if you like erotica, especially female domination stuff, check out Learning to be Cruel at Amazon USA, UK, or Germany:

Hi Tom, thanks for dropping by and reading. I hope to put the stories, old and new, in book form too, either as individual booklets or as a collection down the line. I’m sorry to say I don’t know what’s happened to those other writers. I actually didn’t know them (only spoke to Gretta once for a few minutes) but maybe there’s some info out there on the Web or I’ll hear something in the course of doing this new blog. Thanks for your kind words.

I left Boston in 1976 to live with my cousin in San Mateo who worked for the Mitchell Bros. I was 26. My cousin who eventually would manage DeJavu Men’s clubs in West Palm was learning bartending where Linda/carol and others hung out. She went to school in NYC after High School. She seemed down to earth. She loved pills, they all did. I was prescribed Percodan legitimately monthly so it was easy to make friends. She was a bad drunk. The sex industry was something but did get depressing. I liked looking at girls with clothes on after a year or so. Sex does sell! I had no idea she had died.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, it was a shock when I heard too that she’d died. Really so beautiful. A lot of fans fondly remember her. And I know what you mean–after seeing all the nudity of the sex industry, ladies with clothes ON can indeed pack quite a charge to the libido!

Just an aside but if you put android down in the middle of a reply to answer a doorbell or whatever. The whole reply disappears!!! Anyway,no problem Irv.
Yes it was sad to see how things ended for Linda Wong. Legal and substance problems.
Another reason I’ve been reviewing the old days is I’m planning to attend the Ron Jeremy trial,if there is one. I met Ron several times in South Florida in the 1990’s along with many features working the Deja Vu and the Landing Strip in West Palm Beach.
He was well behaved and making money. I never saw him intoxicated on anything.
I believe he is being railroaded by the MeToo movement and a man hating District Attorney. What’s your thoughts. I hope he asks for a jury trial. I also hope the stress doesn’t kill him.
        Thanks.

Hi Dave–I only knew Ron as an acquaintance I’d bump into at industry events or at the show in Vegas. He seemed like a nice guy to me. I certainly hope it all works out for the best, a dire situation indeed.
