Capturing Fu Manchu’s evil daughter in my camera…

A friend called me today and we spoke of the “January doldrums,” that time of emotional and psychological letdown after the holidays. My friend expressed hope that the pleasant weather today–it was warmer than usual–would herald a new, more positive feeling in general. I very much agreed with him.

I’ve been feeling down myself, partly also because of the economy. Today I read in the paper that we’re supposedly out of the recession. Really? That’s news to me and my friends.

Meanwhile I’m reading for a second time a book I mentioned in my earlier post “Sexology on Sunday.” It’s called The Men on My Couch by Dr. Brandy Engler and David Rensin, and it’s quite a good examination of the psychology of men and how it affects their sex lives.

The book is loaded with insights about how men act out their emotions thru sex instead of confronting their feelings directly. I know it's been true for me.

The book is loaded with insights about how men act out their emotions thru sex instead of confronting their feelings directly. I know it’s been true for me.

When I read the book the first time, I didn’t make any notes, probably because I figured I’d go back and flip through it as I wrote my review. But now I’m going through the entire book all over again, seeing new and interesting angles and marking the book like a roadmap. In a future post I plan to point out several things in particular that I liked about it.

I’m also re-reading Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, from whose name the word “masochism” comes.

VenusInFurs-Paperback

The edition I have opens with correspondence between Masoch and a nineteen-year old female admirer and aspiring writer who wrote to him in 1874. She became a successful author both under her real name Emilie Mataja and the male pen names Emil Marriot and Hugo Valentin.

EmilieMataja

In his letters Herr von Sacher-Masoch goes from literary man to a horny guy who can’t get his fetish for cruel women in furs out of his head. I actually find it kind of funny, because he goes from sounding dignified to almost drooling for Emilie to treat him with cruelty while she wears fur. The effect is like a stuffy snooty upper-crust character in an old movie being revealed in his vices, like in a Three Stooges film.

I admit to my own absurd and probably comical-seeming leap-frogging from self-consciously literary “man of erotic letters” to pervy acolyte of haughty hotties. The other night I finally caught up with The Face of Fu Manchu, a 1965 movie I’d heard about for years, about the world-domination seeking Chinese genius from Sax Rohmer’s early 20th century pulp fiction. (In fact, the movie was produced and written by a man for whom my friend mentioned above, a screenwriter, once worked.) Unfortunately the movie was kind of dry and not too exciting, even with Christopher Lee in the title role; dry, that is, except for the scenes where Fu Manchu’s evil daughter Lin Tang, played by Tsai Chin, watches a minion get punished…

Lin Tang, daughter of Fu Manchu, hefts her whip in her hand and sizes up her victim...

Lin Tang, daughter of Fu Manchu, hefts her whip in her hand and sizes up her victim…

She then prepares to apply some punishment herself…

She really wants to whip this disobedient girl...

…before she’s stopped by her father, who has even more nefarious plans for the minion. In the end, she is very pleased by the terrible fate of the poor girl…SPOILER…who is sent to a watery doom by Fu Manchu.

Her eyes have a dreamy look of pleasure as she watches the girl struggle in fear...

Her eyes have a dreamy look of pleasure as she watches the girl struggle…

In the film’s most shocking image, Lin Tang and her father listen to a news report over the radio (the movie takes place in the 1920s) about the slaughter of an entire town by the use of a deadly biochemical agent sprayed by an airplane piloted by one of Fu’s henchmen. The film moves in this one image from corny mad scientist fiction into something far more sinister and apocalyptic about the cruel forces throughout history that seek to rule and subjugate.

Now, if you’ve read my Kindle ebooks, you know I am erotically enamored of the beauty of domineering Asian women, and I even loved just making the screen captures from the film when it played on Turner Classic Movies. There is something erotic in itself about sitting in front of the tv and making them…just as there is for me when I design the covers of my ebooks, even though I am no professional artist.

But the domination I get off on is erotic roleplaying, not the true horror of evil–wherever it comes from in actuality, not through pulp fiction–evil imposing itself on the world.

They calmly listen to the news reports of the carnage they have unleashed.

Meanwhile, I’ve heard that there is a new South Korean film version of Venus in Furs. I hope to see it when it’s released; here’s a photo from the film that I found online.

What a beautiful domina...

What a beautiful domina…

And of course my British friend, the master femdom artist Sardax who made two illustrations for his site inspired by Learning to Be Cruel, recently completed a series of masterworks based on Venus in Furs.

This masterly Sardax image could get me into the fur fetish myself!

Brilliant dominatrix probes my perverse literary psyche!

A rainy, dreary day in Manhattan. I went out for a walk simply because I had to get out of my apartment for a little while, and I stopped at the flea market where I picked up a translation of Flaubert’s novel, Salammbo, the exotic tale of a priestess of ancient Carthage. I’ve always wanted to dip into this book.

I recently saw a sword-and-sandal version of the story:

This is a more lurid poster for America:

Of course Salammbo has power over men, clouds their brains with lust…what other kinds of stories do I like to read lately? Or write? (I’m being 50% serious and 50% self-deprecating.)

[I got those cool movie posters from this great site here.]

I recently read the 1890s Pierre Louys novel Woman and the Puppet, about a wealthy Spanish nobleman who gets enamored and enslaved by a girl who works in a cigarette factory…despite her numerous lies, manipulations, and open infidelity, he always keeps crawling back…

Here is a picture of me enjoying the book, which I used in my brief column about it here on the Domme Dose website where I write weekly…

Amongst my various sins in this life, I freely mix a purple tee shirt with a green sports jacket…

Right now I’m about a hundred pages into Emile Zola’s late nineteenth century novel Nana, which is about a French actress, a bad thespian but a magnificent stage presence and sex symbol of her era (1867), who basically dominates various big shots. It’s supposed to have some amazing scenes of humiliation. The book is very absorbing, meticulous in its recreation of things like high society midnight dinner parties full of decolletage and drunkenness, but it takes real concentration to read. I hope I finish it. I probably will if only to get to those scenes of degradation…

Here are a couple of cinematic interpretations of Nana…the first from 1982:

The second from 1934, starring the actress Anna Sten, briefly a rival for Garbo-type status in Hollywood:

These are some early paperback covers of Nana. Both depict the amazing opening chapter, which goes into minute detail to describe how she comes onstage in her first theatrical performance as the “Blonde Venus” and, after a rocky start due to her lack of theatrical skills, eventually wows the audience with her total sex appeal and lack of pretention…

I got these Nana covers from the Caustic Critic blog, which has an interesting post about the history and influence of Zola on paperbacks here.

Meanwhile, I do my own humble best to write about the femmes fatale who walk amongst us–at least in my imagination. And today on the femdom site Domme Dose, a smart and beautiful dominant gal named Femme.S, with whom I’ve exchanged various comments on the site, wrote a very interesting review and interpretation of my two ebooks Learning to be Cruel and Learning to be Cruel Part 2. You can read her column, entitled “Learning to be Cruel: A Reminder of Why being Bad Feels so Damn Good to Me” right here. You can also learn more about Femme.S by visiting her blog here.

And if you haven’t read my Learning to be Cruel stories yet, I hope you’ll check them out. You don’t have to read the first one to enjoy the second; each is self-contained, although the second has a brief synopsis of what happened in the original story. You can find them on the Amazon store, complete with free samples that you read right online.

Just go to my Domme Dose columns here and here to read more about them!

Her cruel beauty inspires Sardax again!

The terrific British femdom artist Sardax just finished a new illustration, inspired by the character of the beautiful and cunning Miss Meirong in my top-selling ebook Learning to be Cruel. He imagines something that Meirong might do if I write a sequel. Usually I don’t write sequels to my stories, I tend to “shoot my wad” on the tale and move onto the next. But I might make an exception to this by doing a new installment of Learning to be Cruel as soon as I can make the time. I know that phrase “as soon as I can make the time” might sound lazy, but in order to pay my rent, health insurance, and so forth, as a freelance porn writer, I already do thousands upon thousands of words for adult websites and magazines each week, and lately I just want to relax afterward, watch old movies, and shoot the breeze with my pals!

Sometimes I wonder if working on a laptop, as I have for the last two years, makes my eyes more tired than when I wrote on a desktop, which I did for almost fourteen years. I find myself more swallowed up in the writing on the laptop, but it could come at the cost of more energy and more weary orbs. Well, I’m just thinking out loud…

Anyway, here’s the small version of Sardax’s new illo, with Meirong dazzlingly potent in a blood-red dress and hemoglobin-red femme fatale heels! You can see the full size version on his site here.

She is tearing up a book belonging to Lester, the guy kneeling in front of her. Lester, who is dominated by Meirong in the first story with humiliating food play in a crowded diner, is an inveterate reader…not unlike myself.

I have some ideas for a sequel, and I hope I’ll do the story. It’s funny, the idea I have will go into even more intense realms of erotic emotional cruelty, and I’m almost scared to travel there. When I write a story, I feel like I’m living it in the hours that I spend in front of my laptop. And sometimes I feel I should spend more time living life in the real world rather than in my fictional one.

Meaning…maybe I should find a beautiful Asian woman to worship in real life.

This emotion is unpleasant because it makes me feel that writing fiction is somehow a “second-rate” version of existence. It comes from something that my father unfortunately said to me when I was in high school, just an offhand comment no doubt, while making my first attempts at fiction writing. It took place in 1968. I’d left my desk to go to the kitchen, and when I came back I saw that my father had wandered into my room and seen some pages of the story I was working on. It was, like the stories I write today, about a guy getting involved with a gal, and my father said to me, “Instead of writing a story about getting a girlfriend, why don’t you get one in real life?” From that moment on I have felt in a ridiculously immature yet resilient way that writing fiction is a second-rate way to live. Intellectually, I know it’s isn’t; to write well is one of the things I aspire to, and admire in others. Yet the wound from my father’s words has never healed.

It was particularly galling because unlike a lot of somewhat shy, bookish adolescents, I actually did date girls in high school–a lot of them. I might not have had a steady girl until I was senior, but my father was unfair in his implication that I wasn’t trying! I started dating when I was a sophomore, and I was always in there pitching.

His casual comment has haunted me ever since, even though I tried to expunge its power through therapy and introspection.

A feeling of guilt–of unworthiness–haunts the characters in my stories too. Especially Lester in Learning To Be Cruel.

If you’re interested in checking out the original story, you can find it on Amazon here.

Sardax brings visual life to one of my beautifully cruel heroines!

It was a long week of writing. I just got back a couple of hours ago from dinner with a friend down in Union Square. What an unbelievably bustling place it is, especially at night. The lights from the stores, the sounds of traffic, the rush of walkers and cars, the constant interweaving through masses of people on the asphalt. As I walked my friend over to catch his bus afterward, my eyes were constantly enraptured by the many beautiful young women, especially Asians. It is strange and terrible to have them so visible to me, so palpable in their charms, and yet to be myself so invisible to them. But such is the fate of the ordinary looking middle-aged man.

This feeling of unworthiness and yearning before the eroticism of the vibrant young Asian female is one of the emotional currents running through my femdom story Learning to be Cruel, which I published just about one year ago in Kindle ebook format on Amazon, and which continues to steadily sell.

Although I am not an artist, I designed this cover myself and it captures the spirit of my dominant heroine. As I have said many times on this blog before, I have chosen to do the covers this way because I want the ebooks to evoke the homemade quality of the underground fetish booklets that used to be a staple in some of the adult bookstores around Times Square, and which have become prized collector’s items. Ideally, I should make printed copies of my stories for those who’d like to read them in traditional form, and I may do that at some point in the future.

Recently I started corresponding with the great British femdom artist Sardax, who illustrated a few of my short stories back in the Leg Show magazine days of editor Dian Hanson in the 1990s and early 2000s. I wrote a story for him entitled The Pit,  which was inspired by a picture he did, and which was published on his site The Femdom Art of Sardax. I sent him a copy of Learning to be Cruel just for his interest, and he liked it and decided to make an illustration of it for the site.

He recently joined Twitter at @sardax and has posted two stages of the illustration as he develops it, and which he has allowed me to share here.

I like how the picture is developing, how the tilt of the head in the second step emphasizes not only her dominance but also allows the light to better bring out her Asian features. Ah, a femme fatale is emerging!

Although this scene does not illustrate an actual occurrence in my story (although it does take place in a restaurant and there is much humiliation of the man with food and drink by the woman), I said to Sardax that this could have happened–and she could have poured her drink on her leg–if the restaurant in the story were bigger and the tables weren’t at such close quarters! In any case, it captures the feeling of the story.

It’s fun to see an artist take the story into another possible direction in his interpretation. I’ll post more of these steps in the illustration of Learning to be Cruel as Sardax posts them on Twitter.

And, if you’re curious to read the tale yourself, visit my Amazon page here. You’ll can also find information about my other Kindle ebooks here.

LATE BREAKING NEWS!

I feel like I’m in an old Warner Brothers newspaper movie here. Just as I finished this post, I saw that Sardax posted the final version of the illustration on Twitter. So let’s stop the digital presses and show it here:

The man now looks more like the character Lester in my story, younger and less bulky, and his expression accurately reflects the mix of desire and ambivalence in Lester’s feelings for the powerful, manipulative young woman named Meirong–which means “beautiful face” in Chinese.

As for Meirong in the illo, I’m ready to get down on my knees for her myself…in a restaurant, Union Square, or wherever she chooses! 🙂 Her shadowy full thighs in particular beckon my ardent worship…

Alas, I am afraid she would find me a very disrespectful slave. Perhaps she would have to slap me?

I also like that there is now a very subtle smile on the edge of her mouth in this final version, which reflects her delicious mockery of Lester in the story.

Anyway, before I go off into my reveries, let me remind you that you can view the full-size illustration and read an extract of my story inside the members’ area at The Femdom Art of Sardax!

LATEST DEVELOPMENT–SATURDAY AFTERNOON 6/30/12!

Like any dedicated artist, Sardax often tweaks his work in an ever-evolving state of beauty, and has added a couple of more refinements to the illustration. It’s up now with my story excerpts at his site, so I hope you’ll check it out and enjoy the contrasts in various versions. Let us know how you like it by leaving your comments here or via his site.

The sweet smile of Aoi Sola buoys my spirits…

I’ve been in a funk the last couple of days and have found it difficult to work. Some family members visited me in New York over the Labor Day weekend and that was quite a bit of fun, we saw a great Broadway show (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), had some terrific meals, and perhaps I’m now experiencing the post-holiday letdown.

Maybe if I look at a picture of my favorite Japanese porn star, Aoi Sola, I’ll cheer up. Let’s see what I can put up here from my files…

How’s this?

This was taken a few years ago, early in her adult video career.

Or perhaps I need the distraction of a more earthy shot…

Miss Aoi Sola--angelic and earthy in same shot! I find her beauty almost mind-numbing.

I’m also feeling dissatisfied with this blog. I don’t feel my writing is really clicking here. It’s taken me a couple of months to realize this. The problem is, I really don’t like talking about my work much; I just like doing it. It’s not brain surgery anyway, and there’s not all that much to say. The writerly parts of a freelance writer’s life can be pretty dull…you sit at a desk and write. What goes on in your head is interesting only if it comes to life on the page, digital or paper.

Mm, I wonder if my feeling this is just part of my dark mood…

So maybe I should change the title to something which will give me more leeway to discuss my work if I’m so inclined, or the other stuff that interests me as well, like movies, art, New York, and various notions that come my way.

No, I hate changing titles in midstream, so I’ll just stick with my original choice. As I say, EROTICA IS MY TRADE, but these are THE MUSINGS OF A WRITER OF SEXY FICTION! Maybe it’s accurate enough.

So I will just assume this mood will pass, and I will stay the course. Aye-aye, Captain Neil!

Of course, I use this blog partly to promote my erotica ebooks as well–I have three femdom titles in the Kindle store on Amazon, for you newcomers who haven’t read these jottings before: Learning to Be CRUEL, TOES ARE FOR SUCKING, and SPELL OF DOMINANCE. So my blog title is certainly appropriate for that.

Or maybe I should just change the title of this blog to MY SHRINE TO AOI SOLA? (Pronounced “Ow-ee So-la” and also sometimes spelled “Sora.”) If only I could make a living by sitting at my desk all day putting up pictures of her on a WordPress blog!

I envy the man who is the recipient of her sweet nothings! Alas, I was born thirty years too early...

Dangerous heels that evoke garter straps…

As the week winds down, I’d like to see a girl wearing a pair of shoes like this…I like those cool straps that look like the straps on a garter belt…

I could just lay on the floor, and imagine what the rest of her is like just from these heels.

I found the above picture at an interesting site here.

I wouldn’t be a very good slave for any mistress tonight, I’m pretty tired. Feeling lazy. I just finished putting together my new ebook for Kindle at Amazon.com…10,000 words long, or about 40 or so pages if it were in print…I’ll have the info about it tomorrow…it’s called SPELL OF DOMINANCE and contains five stories full of femdom teasing and submissive pleasing!

I’ll post the cover tomorrow when the book is available on Amazon. Meanwhile, just scroll down through my posts to find info about my other two ebooks, Learning to be CRUEL and TOES ARE FOR SUCKING.

I told you I was feeling tired…lazy…

Meet cute, clever Miranda…and her toes…in my new story!

I just published a new story in the Kindle ebook format entitled TOES ARE FOR SUCKING, which is the second volume in my “Irv O. Neil Erotic Library.” If you enjoyed Learning to be CRUEL, I hope you’ll check out this new femdom tale! Of course, it’s sexually explicit and for adults only 18 and over, or 21 and over depending on your location.

Filling in her toenails with my red pencil almost felt like I was giving her a pedicure!

Again the “hero” of my story is a middle-aged freelance writer; only this time he’s named “Mr. DeMinkus,” and in contrast to my previous protagonist “Lester,” Mr. DeMinkus has a full head of hair and even likes to wear bowties. (Lester was bald and an indifferent dresser.) Mr. DeMinkus has hurt his arm through overwork (possible Carpel Tunnel Syndrome?) and has to lay off the laptop for a few days–so he hires a cute and leggy brunette named Miranda to take his dictation on her own computer. He has a deadline to meet and she helps him.

Meanwhile, she’s intrigued by his fascination with her legs, which she boldly and flirtatiously shows off in a very short dress. She’s a part-time model for fashion catalogs, and always displays her gams when she goes about the town. Sweet and friendly, she’s curious to explore exactly what Mr. DeMinkus is willing to do with her legs…and feet.

You see, he’s not really into sucking toes…but that’s exactly what she wants him to do. Why? It’s revealed in the twist ending after a long scene of exciting female domination.

I got the idea for the story when I saw a photo of a pretty girl with a warm-hearted face displaying her very imposing stems. I thought to myself, “Why not write about such a girl, who seems so compassionately understanding of male fetish needs??” Actually, it’s been my good fortune to have met ladies like that, so I know this is not a fantasy but a reality.

TOES ARE FOR SUCKING is 6300 words of fetish fiction, or about 25 pages long if it were published on paper, and it is written very realistically–so it’ll feel as if you’re actually meeting Miranda, and experiencing her pleasure in getting her feet worshipped and adored! Like my previous story, it’s designed to be read and re-read for your continuing pleasure, and it’s available for instant download at Amazon U.S., Amazon UK, and Amazon Germany.

I hope you enjoy it! And if you wish, you can leave me an anonymous comment here or on the Amazon pages to let me know your thoughts and reactions. Thanks!
