Who is this character named Irv O. Neil?

Welcome to my blog. I’ve written under various noms de porn but “Irv O. Neil” is the one I use most frequently. As a writer/editor for adult magazines and films since 1974, I have worked in all erotica formats. Perhaps you are familiar with my name from some of the publications I edited–Cheeks or Leg World, for example. Or the porn star, stripper, and dominatrix interviews I did for Fox, Black Tail, D-Cup, Leg Show, Hot Salsa!, Over 40, and Oriental Dolls, among others. Or maybe you’ve seen the weekly online newsletters I wrote for HotLegsAndFeet, DDFBusty, and 1By-Day, three terrific websites from DDF Productions in Europe. From 2011 to 2014 I also wrote a weekly column, “Notes of a Rebel Subbie,” for the late and sorely missed femdom website Domme Dose.

Over the years, I have written novels, short stories, confessional letters, X-rated screenplays, articles, magazine photo blurbs (known in the biz as “girl copy”), and book and movie reviews. I have commissioned and directed photo shoots of models. I have even posed in pictorials in Leg Show, Leg Action, Tight, and Juggs–although in “character roles” without showing my pecker which, believe me, the world is not waiting to see. Working in this business has been fun and interesting. It’s had its ups and downs like any trade, but happily more ups than downs–knock wood! (I’m a bit superstitious.) I’ve also done my non-explicit “carnal character acting” in X-rated films such as Our Naked Eyes (I played an anti-porno preacher), Sweet Spurt of Youth (as a porn studio still photographer), Raw Talent 3 (as a gangster), and in Vivid’s 1998 classic The Masseuse 3 in my most natural role–as a lapdance customer! 😉

The erotica industry is obviously changing in this Internet era. Everybody knows that from stories on cable tv and features in mainstream news media. I’m no longer editing magazines, although I still write for them; and now I’m self-publishing stories in e-books, too. My first, available on Kindle at Amazon, was called Learning To Be Cruel. I have many more available there now as well. I like to write female domination stories. Maybe I’ll publish them in matching print editions too, if demand warrants it. We’ll see. I’ll put news about my various publications here on this blog, as I muse about things that interest me and that are part of my life as a writer of sexy fiction. I’ll share writing tips, too, for creating your own erotica.

Call it erotica, call it porn, call it smut–it’s all sexual fantasy brought to life for audiences to enjoy, whether you read it on a screen or in a book, or watch it on a DVD or streaming video. That’s the stuff I write. I hope you’ll try my e-books, and let me know your reactions. But whether you read my stories or not, I hope you’ll enjoy this blog!

Ye ole porn scribe, Uncle Irv

Dear mr. O.Neil I have seen on the web an illustration by Sardax which is the cover of a book of yours: Mommy’s little dunce. I would like to know the content of the book, is it is available anywhere and so on.

      Hello Anthony,
It was a long short story I wrote in 2000 that was published in the March 2001 issue of Leg Show. It was about a man who feels guilty about being a porn writer. He goes to an unlicensed female therapist who gives him unusual therapy–he designs his own dunce cap (because he feels like “dunce” for not being more than a porn writer), she makes him stand in the corner for a long time, he ends up wetting his pants, and she spanks him. He has to be treated like a naughty boy to feel better! And he does feel better at the end, pretty much. I re-read the story this morning in a Xerox copy after I saw your email, and now I am thinking of re-typing it and reprinting it in my Kindle library of erotica, with a different illustration since I don’t own Sardax’s picture. I would sell it on Amazon, where I already have three story ebooks on sale in the Kindle format. Check this blog every once in awhile and I will make an announcement if and when I make the story available again. You can read about what my other stories are here on the blog. Thanks for writing, I appreciate it!–Irv

Please stop stealing from my website without credit, and please print the comment I sent pointing out one of the many images you have cribbed without permission, credit, acknowledgment or links to the original source.

Excuse me? As far as I know, the only thing I “cribbed” (your word, not mine) was a Bill Ward illo in this post:

and if you read it all the way to the end you’ll see that I gave you credit and a link so the readers could find your site. If I am mistaken in my belief that I have not “cribbed” other stuff from you, let me know specifically what you’re talking about. I have never received a comment from you before, unless it was sent mistakenly to the spam folder which I delete. But I wouldn’t have deleted a comment with your name, which I recognize from your sites.

I have almost sixty posts here–have you read them all? If you want me to take down the Bill Ward picture in the post noted above, I will. I will replace it with a Bill Ward image from my collection. I too collect erotica and vintage magazines, and if I “borrow” something from a site that I believe to be unique I give it credit. I admire your sites and look at them often. I am not making any profit on this blog and it is merely a commentary on the erotica scene.

Your comment is a total shock. The other day I was delighted to read your profile in the Times, and tweeted about it. Is that the action of somebody who “cribs” from you? I have also been writing about vintage erotica for years in adult magazines and more recently online.

Let me know if you want me to take the Bill Ward picture down and I will replace it with something else. But I have no idea what other pictures you are referring to.

    Mr. Irv O. Neil,
I absolutely loved the stories of yours which were published in Leg Show some time back. It is too bad that the stories on the site here are only for Kindle users. Is there any chance you would offer them in another download format? I don’t object at all to paying for them, I just don’t have a Kindle! Please keep up the good work!

P.S. I agree with you about Ms Newmar!!

Thanks, Thomas, for your kind words! It’s been so many years since I wrote for Leg Show that I am happy you remember my stories with such affection. Those were definitely some of the best things I did–I really gave them my all. My new stories are very good too, I think, and I get to explore some interesting new angles.

You don’t need an actual Kindle to read the new stories; you can download a free Kindle application from Amazon that can work on your PC or Mac, and download the stories from the Kindle Store at Amazon and read the stories on your monitor. Are you aware of that option? Let me know if you can do it that way, but if not we’ll try to figure something else out. I certainly want you to have the opportunity to read my new pieces. So let me know if you can do it that way.

Yes, Julie Newmar is amazing, isn’t she??

    Hi Neil,

Are you the same person who wrote the story ‘A slave’s road’ ?

      June 23, 2012 at 7:08 pm

Hi scrolllock, and thanks for following my blog. No, I didn’t write “A slave’s road.” I’ve written many stories over the years but that title doesn’t sound familiar.

I checked out your blog and enjoyed your post on femdom scenes in Indian movies, as well as the beautiful shots of ladies and their feet! I will read the stories too. Thanks. I will add your blog to my blogroll so my readers can see it as well.
