A passion for Japanese erotica…

Over the last couple of weeks, on Sundays, I got a lot of views on this blog from Japan, many more than I’ve gotten in a long time from anywhere. On our blog dashboards, we can see where the views are coming from and how many we get.

Japan, the land of Aoi Sola, one of my favorite adult actresses ever! Her combination of warmth, humor, friendliness and thrilling lack of inhibition on-screen made it easy to develop a crush on her and seek out her many sinematic performances. I’ve always regretted not getting to see her in person at NYC’s Japan Society when she turned up several years ago for a talk. I wrote about that here in 2011 in the early days of this blog. And here is a good recent article from TheCultureTrip.com about Miss Aoi for those of you who don’t know about her unusual career and a crossover from porn to the mainstream that eclipses any such professional segue we’ve ever heard of in the adult field, including Jenna Jameson’s here in America. And here is a 2015 article from Tokyo Weekender.com about her popularity in China. Her name is also spelled as Aoi Sora, but with either spelling it means “Blue Sky,” a most appropriate choice indeed given the sunny feelings (among various emotions) that her work can inspire.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand: I got the feeling that perhaps one Japanese reader was going through my entire blog these last two weekends. I don’t know for sure, and it could have been multiple readers, but not knowing why I would suddenly get a lot of views from Japan, I guessed it might have been one reader whose curiosity was piqued by my posts. I really appreciate the interest and hope that, whoever you are, you’ve enjoyed my work!

For my part, I find Japanese erotica some of the most entertaining, stimulating, and creatively realized. I’ve enjoyed looking through beautifully edited Japanese men’s magazines, full of their gorgeous photography of pretty girls. Even when the photos just showed the models in swimsuits, they always had an especially resonant sexiness.

Movie-wise, some of the best and most memorable porn scenes I’ve ever watched were in Japanese hardcore videos over the last ten, fifteen years. I have a friend who watched an incredible number of these movies himself and would direct me to some really excellent videos. We had long and enthusiastic discussions about our favorite actresses like Rei Himekawa and Sakura Sakurada. I wish I could tell you what the titles of these movies were, but most of them were in Japanese on the boxcovers, usually with no English translation! Elsewhere on this blog here I’ve written about the stars I admire like Megu Hagiwara or Kaya Yonekura.

Here’s a nice photo of Sakura Sakurada which I found at the AsianBabesDataBase.com here.

Moving into more niche interests, with my obsession for femdom erotica, I’ve long been a huge fan of the art of Namio Harukawa too, reveling in his atmospheric depictions of amazonian ladies subduing slaves with big butts, powerful thighs, and, of course, their indomitable will to rule men. In fact, I believe I wrote one of the first American articles about Namio, back in 1988 for an early issue of Cheeks magazine, which I started editing that year (and continued to edit until 2005).

Another Japanese femdom artist whom I like, I only know by the name Harukano:

As far as mainstream Japanese movies dealing with femdom, my absolute favorite is Moonlight Whispers (aka Sasayaki) which I’ve written about here (in what has been by far the most popular post on my blog over the years); and I also enjoyed a film called New Love in Tokyo, which had some of the best and most evocative dungeon scenes in the context of a dramatic movie.

In the best scene in New Love in Tokyo, a dominatrix breaks down a cynical visitor to the dungeon by playing on his weaknesses until he completely surrenders to her. She leaves him alone in the dark for awhile, and that’s when she finally gets to him. It’s been a long time since I saw the movie, so I may be vague on these details, but I never forgot this film. You can read more about it at TheSameCinemaEveryNight.net here, where I found the poster art above. I can’t believe I saw it well over twenty years ago!!

Lately I haven’t gone much to strip clubs, but in recent years my favorite dancers were Japanese women who were working here in NYC as exotic dancers. Sometimes we discussed¬† BDSM fantasies, but for the most part I used to just visit them to talk and get a few dances. I became quite friendly with two of them.

Finally, one of my favorite writers is Junichiro Tanizaki, regarded as one of the greatest of the 20th century. He also frequently dealt with fetishism, female domination, and even the cuckolding scenario in his famous novel Naomi and foot fetishism in Diary of a Mad Old Man. The poster of the film version of the latter, which I found on IMDb, is below.

In fact, I gave one of my Japanese stripper friends a copy of Tanizaki’s terrific book of bizarre stories, Seven Japanese Tales, to read when she took a break from the club for a few weeks. It contains his great story about a woman with a spider tattoo who ends up conquering the man who gave it to her. Ironically, though, my dancer friend thought the book was a little too kinky and strange! That surprised me because she was the one who told me her fantasy was to be a mistress and lead me around on a leash, a revelation that certainly kept me interested in her for quite awhile, hoping this fantasy could someday be enacted (alas, it never was, except perhaps figuratively in that she certainly kept me on an invisible psychological leash with me constantly coming back as her customer.) Anyway, I was disappointed too because I had re-read the entire book to discuss it with her on her return from her break, but she had almost nothing to say about it other than it was “weird!” Well, I couldn’t argue with that. It was weird…but also great. Maybe she wasn’t much of a reader, either…but she was a fun companion in the club, which was the most important thing.

Well, I’d love to go to Japan someday and, among many other sights, see some of its erotic culture up close and live, and not through only magazines, pictures, or videos. Perhaps I’m a bit of a mad old man myself now! ūüėČ

Mostly kinky, but with a dash of vanilla!

You guessed it–I’m talking about my writing in the title! ūüėČ We can discuss my personal life another time, or you can just read a few of my femdom ebooks to get a sense of that‚ÄĒmy predilections, that is, if not all my actual experiences. ūüėģ

So here’s a little update on what I’ve been working on lately…

I pride myself on being a versatile erotica writer. My freelance jobs include everything from articles to fiction to interviews to reviews to video/model descriptions to social media (Twitter). And whatever other new interesting projects that come up in the ever-evolving world of erotica.

With the decline of the adult magazine business, I’ve concentrated on my online work. One enjoyable assignment recently was the copy for the webcam chatroom site MistressCamShow.com. I wrote the copy for many sites like this, but I particularly like the heading of this landing page copy, which was fun to write. Fun to read aloud, too…

I also work well with tags and keywords and SEO (Search Engine Optimization), blending them all seamlessly into the paragraphs to lift the sites in the Google rankings. The subject matter of my recent writing is mostly kinky, but with a nice hearty dash of vanilla, too: a recent project on the vanilla end of the spectrum (and I like the flavor vanilla, by the way) was writing all the copy for the excellent new pretty girl site EroticDesire.com.

Shifting from lovely young women in the open air to those tightly bound on the floor of a mysterious warehouse, I’ve also done a lot of video descriptions for the provocative BDSM women-in-bondage site FetishPros.com:

I obviously still like to do magazine writing when I can get it. Most adult magazines have ceased publishing, but here and there I find a print publication I can write for. Nothing like having copies of your work to hold in your hands! One of my specialties is doing interviews (I estimate I’ve done around a thousand over the years, primarily for magazines such as Leg Show, Black Tail, Swank, D-Cup, and Fox), and a recent one I’m proud of was with the online dominatrix and clip producer Princess Sheridan, in a recent issue of Forced Womanhood magazine, issues of which you can find here. This publication focuses primarily on the “forced feminization” fantasy, which I discussed with Sheridan, as well as her other femdom interests in a broad survey of her career. Here are the first two pages of the piece…Sheridan always makes me think of feisty Pre-Code Hollywood actresses like Barbara Stanwyck, transplanted to the modern world of kink. One of the most memorable people I’ve ever profiled. (Her website is here.)

As of this writing (early August 2018), I’m involved also in the editing of the upcoming issue of Forced Womanhood, as well as doing a very exciting new feature interview for it, about which I’ll write more in a few weeks when it hits both the brick-and-mortar and digital newsstands.

Another of my ongoing assignments is doing the daily Twitter for the femdom site DommeAddiction.com here. I write about the various dominatrices the site covers, ladies largely involved in the BDSM video clip scene. The DA Twitter can be found at @DommeAddiction here. A few samples…

Finally, as ever, I write and sell erotica ebooks on Amazon…Blonde Meets Bookworm is the most recent. And I continue to promote my psychological suspense novel Fate of a Stripper on Amazon too. You can find them all here at the U.S. Kindle store, and they are also available at the Amazon Kindle stores worldwide.

So that’s a quick update on some of the things I’ve worked on recently. I’m always ready for new and interesting challenges in my trade‚ÄĒerotica. You can contact me via the email address in my full portfolio elsewhere on this blog here, or via Twitter at @irvoneil here.

I look forward to helping you with your projects!–Irv

When women rule, will the world be cool?

Let’s take a peek into the future to find out…and¬†I mean the FAR future…like, the 24th century future!

It’s the subject of my newest ebook on Amazon…

A time traveler finds himself in a world where women call the shots...

A time traveler finds himself in a world where women call the shots…

A rather self-absorbed horny scientist invents a time machine‚ÄĒyes, an actual time machine‚ÄĒbut expressly for the purpose of having sex with women of different eras!¬†How fucking self-absorbed can you get? Yet Raymond “Race” Ackerman is a kind of likable guy, with a good sense of humor. When he lands in 2399, he discovers that men are the puppets of the Overclass Women who rule society. Whoops! His pathway to easy pussy¬†is over as he is informed that¬†he will have pleasure only¬†by handjobs¬†performed on him at the whims of the dominatrices who gather in The Groves of Goddesses‚ÄĒa place formerly known as New York’s Central Park!

It’s a fast-moving, fun story that I really enjoyed writing. You can find it at Amazon U.S. here¬†¬†with all my other ebooks, and of course in the online Amazon stores worldwide.

Best of all from a professional writer’s point of view, I finally made the Amazon bestseller list with this new book; 2 Amazon bestseller lists, in fact‚ÄĒfirst, the Kindle Science-Fiction erotica list in the U.S.:

‚ÄĒand¬†the¬†Amazon erotica bestseller list in Japan! A special thrill because I am a big fan of Japanese erotica, femdom and otherwise, and have always wanted readers to enjoy my own work there.

Time travel has long¬†been one of my fantasy interests, and I even did a blog devoted to it several years ago called The Horny Time Traveler which you can find here. Check it out, and I hope you’ll read and enjoy FEMDOM NEW YORK 2399 A.D. too. Let me¬†know what you think with a comment here, or on Twitter @irvoneil, or with a brief review on Amazon or Goodreads!

New York Times photo is perfect foot fetish femdom erotica!

As somebody who has written about the foot fetish in fiction, journalism, and horny photo set copy since 1975, I consider myself an expert on the topic. I wrote¬†for Leg Show and Leg Action magazines, I wrote and edited Leg World; and of course I am the eminent author of Toes Are For Sucking, available in the Kindle Store at Amazon…and I write web copy each week for HotLegsAndFeet.com.

My experiences with hookers¬†and dominatrices over the years further enriched my knowledge of the commanding beauty of women’s feet.

In a¬†scholarly vein, therefore, I’m always looking for new examples of art, photography, fiction and film which touch upon this topic.

So I was delighted while drinking my morning coffee on Wednesday 1/21/15 to open the New York Times and see this photo by Sara Krulwich, illustrating a review of a new play by Halley Feiffer, I’m Gonna Pray for You So Hard.

I am sure this clipped by many foot lovers for private study and analysis.

I am sure this photo was clipped by many foot lovers for private study and analysis.

The character portrayed in the photo is described in Charles Isherwood’s review as “a self-confident woman…Now all razor edges, where before she was a puddle of anxiety…Ella has…come into her psychological inheritance, barking vicious orders at underlings…and preening over…her new success.”

Sounds like a bit of an informal “dominatrix-in-daily-life” situation to me.

But it’s the photo, even more than the prose, which sealed the deal for my brain and sac. At first, reading the review, I wondered who the character in the picture was, because Ella is¬†indeed at first evoked as a “puddle of anxiety.” But coming into her own, she becomes a different¬†Ella from the beginning of play, and her new dominance is visually conveyed through the primal authenticity of beautiful bare feet sculpted dramatically by the slanting light, even as she purses her lips in cruel authority and holds yet another popular symbol of female domination, the cigarette, lest we have any doubt that this female could eat thumb tacks instead of Cheerios for breakfast. And, perfectly complementing Ella’s¬†aura of inexorable command, the figure of the man exiting right looks defeated.

Defeated by The Woman, as symbolized by her lips, cigarette, legs, and feet. Oh, and that upraised right hand looks ready to swat away any mere fly of an underling who upsets her. This is a timeless image indeed! It could take place in any century.

So bravo to the Times for splendid foot fetish femdom eroticism in a single masterful theatrical image, captured by the skill of photographer Sara Krulwich. The actress is Betty Gilpin, and actor on the right is Reed Birney. This is one for the scrapbook!

For an extra treat, check out the full review online at the Times here, where you’ll also see the extra dimension of vibrant color. What a vixenish red dress she wears!

And seriously, check out Toes Are For Sucking too. You’ll be glad you did.

Always NEW writing to enjoy!

It’s been a busy few weeks since I put up my novel¬†FATE OF A STRIPPER in a Kindle edition at Amazon. Besides that new publication, I’ve had other projects show up online.

For example, I had a story entitled “A Pinup In Storage” appear on the erotic site Filthy Gorgeous:

Savor the multimedia presentation of this story, complete with Bettie Page movie clips!

Savor the multimedia presentation of this story, complete with Bettie Page movie clips!

Last week I also did a guest blog post for one of my favorite dominatrixes, the beauteous Welsh goddess Miss Annabel Fatale:

I discuss her effect on me and her many admirers in this exclusive piece for Miss Annabel's blog!

I discuss her effect on me and her many admirers in this exclusive piece for Miss Annabel’s blog!

You can read this new piece here. It immediately stirred up many positive reactions on Twitter amongst her legions of admirers. Dig the atmospheric little selfie I took of myself mesmerized while watching this mistress of erotic hypnosis on her Vine page!

Along with this, of course, I’ve been busy promoting FATE OF A STRIPPER…my first non-porn mainstream suspense novel, a 249 page, 80,000 word tale of love, murder and redemption. Before this¬†I’d written four porn novels like The Punk Stud and His Women¬†(that one under the pen name “George Sussman”), a book which now sells¬†for $40¬†to $75 online in the original 1975 edition.

Have you taken the plunge into this intense new psychological suspense novel about the affair between a young stripper and an older man?

Of course there are other goodies coming in the pipeline as well…always plenty of new¬†writing to enjoy from yours truly.¬†“Check it¬†out, check it out, check it out!” as the strip club flyer guys¬†used to bark¬†on the streets of Times Square: check out my prose¬†always carefully crafted to¬†entertain!

Farewell to the Domme Dose…

For over two years, from November 2011 thru mid-January 2014, I wrote a weekly column for a site called Domme Dose. Although it focused primarily on the “financial domination” sub-genre of femdom, the webmaster WR let me write about whatever aspects of femdom I was interested in. I took both a personal and scholarly approach, relating my experiences with D/s, dominatrixes, and also how I found connections to femdom in pop culture.

WR had initially approached me to write for Domme Dose when he saw one of my blog posts here¬†entitled “Teases and Temptations of the Twitterdommes.” It was fun to write what I called “Notes of a Rebel Subbie” for WR and discuss my eternally ambivalent attitude toward femdom. It was also helpful as well as fun¬†because it gave me a chance to promote on a weekly basis my femdom ebooks.

A lively fun site.

A lively fun site.

Although I never met WR in person, we would correspond via email a couple of times a week, usually after I sent him my column on Monday nights. We would usually just chat about our enthusiasm for various dommes, and WR would tease me that I had so many favorites. I did like a good number of them, but I also promoted others in whom I had a more casual interest simply because I figured it would also help bring more readers and traffic to his site.

I enjoyed emailing with WR especially about the old days in Times Square, and the wild live performances they used to have in places like Show World Center.

I found WR¬†a courteous and friendly guy, who was very accepting of his own interests in femdom. I admired that self-acceptance in WR, because I myself have always felt like a “rebel subbie,” my term for the ambivalence I’ve always had¬†toward femdom. When it comes to my desires to submit to women even in roleplay,¬†I’m¬†never free of a certain self-disdain…never ceasing to¬†chide myself that I should be “normal” and not “kinky.” (Although as I’ve gotten older–and thankfully known people like WR, and some of the dommes I’ve encountered at the Dose and on Twitter–I have become more self-accepting.)

So writing “Notes of a Rebel Subbie” helped¬†me in a therapeutic way, too.

I also admired that WR could do his site seven days a week, handling all the pictures and copy and personalities of the various contributors. As somebody who worked for almost thirty years as an adult magazine editor, I could understand what challenges that entailed.

WR would promote me on his homepage as a “famous” writer until one dominatrix complained and questioned my actual level of fame…

I got a kick out of posing for silly selfies for the column.

I got a kick out of posing for silly selfies for the column.

Now, I had never asked WR to say I was famous–I don’t consider myself such–so I told him why not change “famous” writer to “acclaimed” writer. Since I’ve¬†been nominated four times for AVN awards for my X-rated screenplays, I figured it was safe to say that at least four times in my life my work had indeed been “acclaimed.” ūüėČ

So WR did that for awhile, until he started calling me the “distinguished” writer…and¬†we seemed to settle on that.

The selfie usually reflected the tone of that week's column.

The selfie usually reflected the tone of that week’s column.

Then in mid-January, WR stopped posting on the Dose or Twitter. There was no word from him to anybody, no warning. For a guy as reliable as he was, this did not bode well to me and many others. People speculated on what could have happened, but nobody came up with an answer until a few weeks ago, when it was learned that WR had passed away the day after his postings ceased. (Although, as far as I know, details on what happened have still not emerged online. WR seems to have been a very private, discreet person in many ways.)

The Domme Dose itself came down just a couple of weeks ago, after remaining online for more than two months,¬†reminding me of¬†a shuttered saloon where the owners had left all the lights still on–because the Dose was like a corner bar in a way, where dommes and subs got together to discuss things at various levels of passion, reasonableness, discord, or humor.

I enjoyed reading my fellow columnists¬†such as¬†Moneyslave Matt¬†and¬†MzSydney; reading comments from gents¬†like Frank,¬†Hex’sFreakOnALeash, dickie virgin, Kyaa’sBard, and goodboy4kyaa; and keeping up with the thoughts and doings¬†of so many dommes like Princess Rene, Miss Foxx, Capitalistic Blonde, Miss Annabel Grace, Goddess Jessica, Hex Kitten, Princess Karmaz, Mandy Flores, Princess Ellie Idol, Goddess Kyaa, Queen Kitty, Mistress T, Bella Daisy, Asian Goddess, Mistress Sarah Blake, Bratty Nikki, and many others.

Yes, I miss writing for and chatting on the Dose, and I miss WR’s emails and tweets. He was one of the best guys I’ve worked¬†for. So long, amigo. R.I.P.

Femdom in a 1962 William Holden spy movie!

I’m a fan of the American actor William Holden, and last night I caught up with a 1962 film of his that I never saw before. The Counterfeit Traitor is the story of a American-born Swedish businessman (Holden) who becomes a spy for the Allies during World War 2, gathering information since as a neutral Swede he can travel back and forth to wartime Germany. It’s quite tense and exciting, and thoughtful about the nature of human responsibility as well.

But for the purposes of this blog, what stood out in the film for me was a scene where Holden was walking through the streets of Hamburg seeking his contact to help him get away from Germany and the Gestapo. It turns out that this contact is a dominatrix who sits in an open window advertising her stern services, played by the German actress Ingrid van Bergen. She doesn’t whip him, though, in the brief interlude, but just helps him on his escape route. Still, she looks like quite an effective whip mistress, complete with BDSM art on the walls of her little room.

A pretty wild costume for a 1960s movie character!

A pretty wild costume for a 1960s movie character!

I wonder what I would have made of the sequence had I viewed it in 1962, when I was ten years old. After all, it was a respectable mainstream film and I might have been able to get in to see it.

I’m sure more than one kinky and knowing audience member had a fantasy or two about Ingrid in this scene!

This Italian poster is much sexier than any American version.

This Italian poster is much sexier than any American version.

Still, I doubt in 1962 I would have known what the lady’s bizarre clothing, gloves, boots, and riding crop meant, although I might have concluded that she was some kind of “bad” woman–and perhaps all bad women wore stiletto boots and carried crops. (Maybe on some unconscious level I do believe this today!)

Here's a portrait of Ingrid in her costume from the film.

Here’s a portrait of Ingrid in her costume from the film.

In any case, I’m glad I didn’t see the movie until now, because with my greater knowledge about World War 2 from reading, as well as my endless fascination with femdom, I definitely appreciated it much more in 2014 than I would have fifty-two years ago!

And here’s one more shot of Ingrid van Bergen. Dig that 1960s glamour!

Images like this have a lasting effect on minds both young and old! ;)

I found the Italian poster for The Counterfeit Traitor here. I found the black-and-white portrait of Ingrid Van Bergen here and the color glamour shot here. The scene still from The Counterfeit Traitor is from here.
