Femdomartists.com: a treasure trove of kinky inspiration!

“Where do you find your inspiration?” All writers are asked this question, especially porn or erotica writers (the terms are interchangeable to me). Often it’s somebody I see whom I consider unattainable–like a beautiful, haughty shopgirl–who will spur a story idea. Such was the case with my ebooks, the original Learning to be Cruel and its sequel Learning to be Cruel Part 2.

In other cases, like my story Mommy’s Little Dunce, it comes by exploring an emotion I myself have, but exploring it in the context of a fictional erotic situation–in this case, the feeling that I have not accomplished all of my literary goals, such as they are. I invented a writer character who gets “punished” through spanking, humiliation and “maternal discipline” in order to purge his low self-esteem.

The story She Made Me a Cuckold on Black Friday sprang to mind because I sometimes like to write tales tied to holidays, which gives them a perpetual topicality. And because one of the femdom sites I write for as a freelancer, Domme Dose here, has such a fascination with the cuckold fetish, it was on my mind a lot to deal with this theme.

Toes Are For Sucking sprang to mind when I saw an incredibly leggy model stride into a fast food restaurant, just as one does in that story…

…and the five short stories in my Spell of Dominance anthology were inspired by photographs. All the pieces were originally written for Leg World magazine, and printed with the photographs. But I wrote the stories in such a way that they could be enjoyed without the photographs if I decided to reprint them in my own ebooks. I don’t own the rights to the pictures. And with all my ebooks, I create my own covers in a kind of crude style that recalls the almost homemade kinky booklets that used to be sold in Times Square porn shops back in the day.

But another way I get inspiration is by looking at other sites. A lot of sites, but one of my very favorites is Femdom Artists here, which is a great compilation of imagery.

In a recent post entitled “Namio Harukawa: Laundry Service” the site ran a great picture by the master Japanese illustrator of femdom fantasies. Harukawa’s work has the artistry and horniness that make me want to write more stories and keep my contributions coming to the great edifice of femdom erotica!

I don’t work for Femdom Artists, but I recommend it to my readers. The site was kind enough to put up some links to my ebooks, and I have long had them on my bookmarks in the rightside column on this blog, but I thought I would give them an extra shout-out today. I frequently put comments on the posts there, because it’s full of interesting discussions and remarks from many other articulate aficionados of the genre. So in answer again to the question, “Where do you find your inspiration?” I would say I absorb inspiration also by osmosis, by looking at sites like Femdom Artists. On both conscious and unconscious levels some of the things I see there give me fuel for my own pervy output!

I was working on some freelance stuff this morning, racing to meet a deadline, but a cyber-glitch in the process has forced me to take a break, so I thought I would check in with a quick post here.

Seen and noted: the erotic potential of Yahoo’s new CEO, Marissa Mayer!

I’d never heard of Marissa before, but she certainly is an icon of ladylike dominatrix appeal.

I love the hand on the hip and the friendly smile. It’s like a combination of power and compassion…just the kind of emotions that set off femdom fantasies and fiction in my fevered brain. Often I find beautiful businesswomen more erotic as dominatrixes than ladies in more traditional domme gear.

Femdom Sunday at the New York Post!

The New York Post is a pretty interesting tabloid on Sunday, with lots of well-written reviews and editorials. And this Sunday the paper has a real BDSM, femdom slant. The cover story in the Pulse section is about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in the new Batman flick, and runs this photo (among several):

On page 3 we learn that women are smarter than men…science proves it:

A column about the media fallout from the “mommy porn” bestselling smut sensation Fifty Shades of Grey also runs a leggy shot of Ashley Greene, and talks about the new mainstream interest in BDSM from soccer moms. (And think about it: the triumph of a porn novel written by a woman is a femdom kind of triumph, even though the book is about female sexual submissiveness. As far as I know, no penis-bearing writer has ever hit the top of the bestseller lists with an outright erotic novel.)

And top it all, the Post presents on page 23 the photographic piece de resistance for lovers of giantesses, always a popular femdom sub-fetish: a Getty Images pic of a man crossing his hands near his crotch and standing in a test tube held by an enormous, steely-eyed, analytical woman!

And to think we New Yorkers used to have to go to fetish bookstores to glimpse stuff like this!

 

Sardax brings visual life to one of my beautifully cruel heroines!

It was a long week of writing. I just got back a couple of hours ago from dinner with a friend down in Union Square. What an unbelievably bustling place it is, especially at night. The lights from the stores, the sounds of traffic, the rush of walkers and cars, the constant interweaving through masses of people on the asphalt. As I walked my friend over to catch his bus afterward, my eyes were constantly enraptured by the many beautiful young women, especially Asians. It is strange and terrible to have them so visible to me, so palpable in their charms, and yet to be myself so invisible to them. But such is the fate of the ordinary looking middle-aged man.

This feeling of unworthiness and yearning before the eroticism of the vibrant young Asian female is one of the emotional currents running through my femdom story Learning to be Cruel, which I published just about one year ago in Kindle ebook format on Amazon, and which continues to steadily sell.

Although I am not an artist, I designed this cover myself and it captures the spirit of my dominant heroine. As I have said many times on this blog before, I have chosen to do the covers this way because I want the ebooks to evoke the homemade quality of the underground fetish booklets that used to be a staple in some of the adult bookstores around Times Square, and which have become prized collector’s items. Ideally, I should make printed copies of my stories for those who’d like to read them in traditional form, and I may do that at some point in the future.

Recently I started corresponding with the great British femdom artist Sardax, who illustrated a few of my short stories back in the Leg Show magazine days of editor Dian Hanson in the 1990s and early 2000s. I wrote a story for him entitled The Pit,  which was inspired by a picture he did, and which was published on his site The Femdom Art of Sardax. I sent him a copy of Learning to be Cruel just for his interest, and he liked it and decided to make an illustration of it for the site.

He recently joined Twitter at @sardax and has posted two stages of the illustration as he develops it, and which he has allowed me to share here.

I like how the picture is developing, how the tilt of the head in the second step emphasizes not only her dominance but also allows the light to better bring out her Asian features. Ah, a femme fatale is emerging!

Although this scene does not illustrate an actual occurrence in my story (although it does take place in a restaurant and there is much humiliation of the man with food and drink by the woman), I said to Sardax that this could have happened–and she could have poured her drink on her leg–if the restaurant in the story were bigger and the tables weren’t at such close quarters! In any case, it captures the feeling of the story.

It’s fun to see an artist take the story into another possible direction in his interpretation. I’ll post more of these steps in the illustration of Learning to be Cruel as Sardax posts them on Twitter.

LATE BREAKING NEWS!

I feel like I’m in an old Warner Brothers newspaper movie here. Just as I finished this post, I saw that Sardax posted the final version of the illustration on Twitter. So let’s stop the digital presses and show it here:

The man now looks more like the character Lester in my story, younger and less bulky, and his expression accurately reflects the mix of desire and ambivalence in Lester’s feelings for the powerful, manipulative young woman named Meirong–which means “beautiful face” in Chinese.

As for Meirong in the illo, I’m ready to get down on my knees for her myself…in a restaurant, Union Square, or wherever she chooses! Her shadowy full thighs in particular beckon my ardent worship…

Alas, I am afraid she would find me a very disrespectful slave. Perhaps she would have to slap me?

I also like that there is now a very subtle smile on the edge of her mouth in this final version, which reflects her delicious mockery of Lester in the story.

Femdom thrills in mainstream movies!

Over the years there have been a number of erotic mainstream movies touching on femdom–look up “Sadism and Masochism in Fiction” on Wikipedia for a long list. I admit that I have not seen them all, but in my opinion the greatest film of this type I have seen is Moonlight Whispers from 1999.

Called Sasayaki in Japanese (full title Gekko no sasayaki), it was based on a manga and told the story of two students, boyfriend and girlfriend. Problem is, the boyfriend is submissive and this greatly disturbs the girlfriend when she finds out. She didn’t know he was a hentai (pervert)!

I haven’t seen the movie in awhile, although when it was in the theaters I was so blown away that I went to see it twice on consecutive nights at New York’s Cinema Village, a tiny theater that was a perfect venue for an elegant but truly dirty movie (although softcore all the way). Then I saw it on VHS and DVD two or three times in succeeding years.

the girlfriend punishes the boyfriend by making him hide in a closet while she has sex with her boyfriend’s best friend. This clip shows the before and after, but doesn’t have the actual sex scene (which, again, was softcore and perfectly fine for being so…maybe even hotter for being so).

Re the clip I’ve linked to above, I’ve never seen a sequence in any other movie that captures so well the complicated feelings that femdom, especially the cuckolding scenario, can inspire in a male submissive…and also shows how the female can awaken to domineering feelings and latent sadism when she is disappointed in discovering that her man is not “normal.” Look at how she kicks him in the clip, calls him “hentai” and then plants her beautiful foot firmly upon his chest!

the girlfriend tells her boyfriend (whose wrists and ankles are bound) to clean her up after lovemaking with the other guy! “I’m sweaty.” Again, it’s done with a fair amount of subtlety, but is still incredibly hot.

It looks as if you can see this entire movie on You Tube under its original title Gekko no sasayaki, broken up into several parts. It really is worth owning, though, and definitely worth seeing: a rewarding film in many ways, capturing a whole spectrum of femdom scenarios as well as the emotions that go with them.

I also saw a 1961 movie on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) recently called Claudelle Inglish, which is about a poor Southern girl, daughter of sharecroppers, who takes revenge on the fiance who dumped her by becoming the town tramp.

The story is largely concerned with all her new suitors giving her presents–a constant stream of presents, in fact, about which she boasts just as constantly.

This reminds me of today’s thriving online “financial domination” scene, where men give “tributes” “presents” and “gifts” to dominatrixes, many of whom only interact with them online. (Although I’m not into financial domination–or “findom”–myself, I write a general column about femdom for a site that specializes in findom–Domme Dose, which you can find here. But back to Claudelle Inglish. Young actress Diane McBain was fantastic in this role. She starts out sweet when she’s engaged to her dreamboat (a very young Chad Everett)–but once he abandons her for another girl while in the army, she turns dominant and vengeful. As in the first Moonlight Whispers clip I linked to above, there’s a powerful moment where the young woman truly comes into her sense of dominant power over men, and we can see in her face her new awareness as a pathetic older man (Claude Akins) pleads for her friendship even as he offers her a present of red high heels! Amazing scene. Look for this movie on TCM again…because I’m sure they will rerun it. They have to, it’s a kinky gem!

Any newbie domme could learn a lot from seeing Diane McBain’s stunning portrayal of ultra-tease Claudelle Inglish!

SPOILER ALERT: Since Claudelle Inglish was made in 1961, the brazen greedy temptress does not come to a good end. Movies still preached an old-fashioned morality back then. But if Claudelle existed in today’s world, there’s no doubt she could make a mint as an online or “real-time” domme, draining her admirers for a flow of presents that would never end…

Recently I got a nice comment here from Sardax, the great British femdom illustrator whose work is known worldwide. When I wrote fiction for editor Dian Hanson’s Leg Show back in the 90s and early 2000s, I was fortunate that Dian had Sardax illustrate a few of my tales of submissive men and the glorious women who dazzle, befuddle, and punish them. One of my epics was Mommy’s Little Dunce which I’ve just re-published as an ebook, but with a cover design of my own since I don’t have the rights to Sardax’s picture. Another reason for using a different cover is that all my ebooks are designed to evoke the crude but evocative cover styles of the underground fetish story pamphlets once sold in adult bookstores or through the mails.

However, Sardax and I exchanged a few emails and he graciously gave me a mention on his site The Femdom Art of Sardax with a little excerpt of the story and links to my Amazon pages. It all just went up today and I’ve got more hits on this blog than ever before. Thank you, my dear Sardax! He encouraged me to put up the original illustration, which you see above, so I could share it with my readers.

THE ART OF SARDAX

The British artist Sardax specializes in femdom imagery, and the girls and women in his pictures usually exhibit a calm, half-smiling detachment as they put slave males through their paces. Although Sardax is quoted in the intro to this book as saying that he doesn’t like to draw “pinup type” girls, his women are often quite pretty and it is unnerving to see such cuties placidly and harshly dominating submissive males with a variety of skills and methods.

The “Sartopian” female may exist in the artist’s imaginary but superbly rendered utopia of female domination and male obedience, but modern life has caught up with the fantasies of this skilled draughtsman. Without consciously being aware of it, or even knowing of Sardax’s existence, many contemporary young women seem to exhibit the haughty attitudes, air of privilege, and bemused arrogance of the Sartopian domina. Women in “real life” may not physically manipulate men with the same bizarre fetishistic flourishes as the women of Sardax do, but their aura of conquest comes across nonetheless. It seems to me that many females today want to figuratively, if not literally, put males on their knees.

Published by the Erotic Print Society as part of their Great British Erotic Art series, The Art of Sardax is an excellent 160 page compendium of the artist’s various treatments of the theme of women controlling men. Few others can depict as well as Sardax such a variety of boots, stiletto shoes, seamed stockings, corsetry, lingerie, and especially the delicious strain of womanly hips and derrieres against taut and shiny skirts. He is also adept at evoking historical scenes: eighteenth and nineteenth century women in the tight-waisted dresses of those eras, or dressed like pirates or buccaneers, complete with tri-cornered hats. Whether he’s creating a scene in color or black-and-white, and whether it’s a young woman in a peach baby doll nightie cramming a construction worker’s mouth with a strap-on dildo, or a ponytailed Japanese girl in a demure white dress teasing a thirsty slave with a glass of water, Sardax projects before us a dark world where susceptible men are slaves to perfect yet ruthless beauties. It can be a merciless world too, where sometimes the prospect of even an orgasm as reward for endless obedience is in doubt.

The Sartopian male is helplessly entangled in the emotional and erotic webs spun by these women. Yet the spectator is often guided to feel, largely by the brief stories accompanying the drawings, that these men have complicity in their submission. They hope and lust to be dominated, no matter how ambivalent they may come to feel about it later. Instead of the vainglorious orgasmic bliss they thought they would achieve in hooking up with such gorgeous creatures, they find themselves instead waiting for a humble sniff of a domme’s tennis sock, or a glob of frigid ice cream sliding between a girl’s teasing toes, or the scrape of a mistress’s blood-red nails against their yearning scrotums. In the world of Sardax, a young man takes a beauty to the prom, and discovers that she is going to use him in an experiment in group femdom with her friends. He finds himself completely nude before these merciless beauties, who are still splendid in their prom gowns as they have their way with his naked behind.

But here is the most unnerving thing about the seemingly cruel Sartopian female. Sardax clearly suggests, often through the enigmatic smile on the girl’s face, that she might actually be kind in her cruelty, with her icy demeanour the exact kind of syrup a certain type of man wants on his sexual sundae. In one of the mini-stories that accompany the pictures, a doughy middle-aged man enslaved to a young woman says: “I love her and I hate her…I cannot stay here, and I cannot leave.” This phrase echoes a famous epigram by the Roman poet Catullus, written two thousand years ago, in which he bemoaned the strange mystery and emotional pain of loving and hating a woman at the same time. The kind of woman who inspires such passion—whether she lives in Sartopia, modern Manhattan, or ancient Rome—is more than simply human: she is also goddess and monster, human and spider. In her presence, you never tread neutral ground. Welcome to Sartopia, a place as eternal as Rome itself, not a country but a state of mind which has existed ever since fabled Eve first gave Adam the apple, and which Sardax explores in this beautifully designed volume. The Art of Sardax will arouse your libido, but also inspire you to examine and analyze the ever-curious ecstasies of female domination and male submission.

So what’s the real meaning of this ad for the new American ABC-TV show Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt 23?

Let’s see…the mischievious, manipulative look…the scarlet temptress lipstick…the perfect and expensive manicure…the black clothes (with shoulder pads!–are we back in the 80s yet?)…the costly bracelet on her lazy wrist…

Yep, it doesn’t look to me like she is just offering her key to some lucky stud, but rather teasing some sexually submissive guy who’s addicted to giving her money in a financial domination relationship (he probably paid for the lipstick, manicure, clothes and bracelet), and who’s also agreed to let her put a chastity device on his penis, like a CB-6000S..and she’s holding the key! 

Sure, it’s SUPPOSED to look just like a sexy girl waving an apartment key, femme fatale style, but it sure looks a lot more like the images of dominatrixes who tease and tempt guys on the Web in video clips, telling them they’re going to put their slaves in penis cages to break their nasty self-abuse habits…and as a weekly columnist for the Domme Dose, where I write Notes of a Rebel Subbie, I think I’ve developed a certain radar for femdom content hiding in the sheep’s clothing of mainstream entertainment…

And let’s put it this way: an episode about Miss Ritter’s character putting some dude–maybe some CELEBRITY dude–into a chastity device would be hilarious!

In fact, I think an entire situation comedy about a sweet girl who’s rooming with a stern dominatrix who puts her slaves into chastity cages and drains them of money by getting them addicted to video clips and buying her expensive presents would be something worth watching indeed.

Meanwhile, let me see if I can hang this picture on my bathroom door. How kind of the free newspaper AM New York to use the ad for a wraparound on their edition yesterday!

The picture is carefully positioned four feet above the throne for ease of contemplation and analysis.

Why some people look down on erotica…

I believe that all of the best writing, whether it’s erotic or literary or genre or journalistic, takes practice and skill before mastery is achieved. It can be as difficult to learn to write a great erotic story as it is to write a great story of other types. To be able to create your own distinctive universe where your characters meet, talk, screw and/or kink out, is not an easy accomplishment.

One of the earliest magazines I edited and wrote for...each coverline came right from my sexual psyche or pop culture interests.

However, in one important aspect erotica is a less demanding form of fiction writing for the simple reason that it doesn’t take all that much to turn people on, if you are basically giving them what they’re looking for. For example, if you hand a poorly written femdom story to a submissive man, it still might turn him on if there are nuggets in the tale that capture his fantasies.

As an editor, as well as a reader of online fiction written by any number of anonymous souls, I’ve been constantly amazed at how weakly written amateur stories can be really hot in spite of their poor grammar or structure. But it makes sense, because it is the stimulation of body rather than the mind that is the primary goal of porn, erotica, smut, or whatever you want to call it, and the body is easily titillated. A single apt turn of phrase in an otherwise crummy tale can do the trick.

If a person, not necessarily a trained writer, puts down his or her fantasies honestly, or at least passionately, and with a modicum of intelligibility, there are bound to be some people out there who will get aroused when they read such jottings.

On the other hand, if an unskilled scribe attempts to craft a mystery, even with honesty, passion, and intelligibility, the odds are high that it will excite nobody, because the challenges and complexities of writing a mystery are usually too much for the novice. In this sense it’s harder to write a mystery than an erotic story, for the simple reason you can’t fall back on the biological urges that can so readily be triggered by the right smutty passage in an otherwise lumpy pile of pornographic pulp.

Attempts by tyros at most other literary categories, from literature to westerns to thrillers to romance, are often hopelessly bad with no available fallback on the libido, as in erotica. Of course it doesn’t mean that, given time and effort, beginners in all these fields can’t develop the necessary skills to succeed.

Most people understand all this instinctively–even unconsciously–about erotica, and from this comes their attitude that somehow erotica is not “real” writing…or at all challenging to write. Everybody knows how easily and quickly our individual arousal buttons can be pushed by the right words or images, and so they figure it doesn’t take all that much skill to write horny material. Unfortunately, they can be correct.

But–when you read a great piece of horny prose, the skills utilized are obvious to the discerning eye.

Still, all this is one big reason for the never-ending condescension of the civilians (as some of us pornsters call people outside of the business) toward the art and craft of erotica writing. Such condescension and misunderstanding are occupational hazards to be encountered at parties, family gatherings, or wherever such civilians gather. “You write what? Oh, I didn’t know magazines actually paid people to write stuff like that.” (Snicker, titter, smirk, gasp!)

On the contrary, they did–and sometimes very nicely indeed.

Indulge yourself in femdom fantasy!

I spend a good deal of time on Twitter to promote my ebooks. However I wonder how effective a promotional tool it has been. Presumably the Twitter followers I have, who are growing in number but are still comparatively modest, already know about my ebooks, so they probably scroll past my nightly plugs for the tomes. So who sees the new tweets and plugs? I guess mostly when they are retweeted by various Twitter acquaintances, some of whom have many more followers.

The sales for my ebooks have been steady but modest. I have thus far concentrated on my femdom erotica, which is my specialty. My best selling book is LEARNING TO BE CRUEL.

My next bestselling book is TOES ARE FOR SUCKING. It has slowly gained an audience. I think the title is a little too blunt and that has hurt it a little. But I’m reluctant to change a title or a cover once I’ve put it up. The story starts out with a light touch and then gets more serious. I surprised myself when I was writing it, or should I say the dominant young woman in the story surprised me and my protagonist with her abrupt assumption of a domineering attitude after being rather sweet.

I got the idea for this while daydreaming over coffee in a fast food restaurant.

SPELL OF DOMINANCE seems to be a bit of an orphan–it’s the slowest and smallest seller of my books, even though it has five complete short stories. I wonder why; it’s really like a nice little buffet of femdom treats, and a good introduction to the world of my stories where men surrender with varying degrees of subservience to the skillful manipulations of beautiful, controlling women.

I’m not much of an artist, and as a former magazine editor I have access to professional artists and photographers should I need them; but I wanted to give my ebooks a unique look that captures the feeling of the kinky small-press booklets sold in porno shops back in the less technological days–booklets that I found to be catnip to my imagination. And I must say the ladies on my covers capture the personalities of my heroines quite accurately. Or are they more in the line of a villainess? You decide!
